Needing help

assalamualaikum

in the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

Let me begin with by saying 'Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan yang ke-51'. I wish for prosperous and glorious Malaysia for years to come.

I was surfing around on net and youtube, I came across a video that provides this link.

Who is Teresa Kok?

She is the MP of Seputeh. She defeated a BN candidate with a thumping majority of more than 35 000 in March GE.  Whether she is a Christian or Buddhist, it should not even be a question in the first place. That is a right granted by the Federal Constituency.

My question below is never meant to create any tension. Neither it is intended to hurt anyone. A clarification is what I needed. I don't know if it's even a chapter in the Bible. It is mentioned in that link,

In the book of Leviticus, chapter 11, v. 7, it is recorded that God declares the pig to be unclean for believers. Then, in verse 8, God says: “You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you”. This command is repeated in Deuteronomy 14:7-8. Then, in Isaiah 65:2-4, and 66:17, God issues a stern warning against those who eat pork.

so is that true? or is it specifically meant to some sections?

to my Muslim friends, we have a great and challenging month coming ahead. As a start, I would like to suggest that each and everyone of us take your Quran with you to work/class. I believe we have a good 1 hour break in lunch time. So, together with 'iktikaf', get a short afternoon nap(15 mins) and good 10 mins on a page or two of the Noble Quran.

Please ensure your Quran comes with the translation too okay.  Let's start a generation that knows what Quran is all about.  We are done being stupid.

Practical, isn't it?

SELAMAT MENYAMBUT RAMADHAN!

till next time,
assalamualaikum
p/s: kami di NZ mungkin mula puasa hari selasa...malam ni tgk anak bulan.

Dr pengetahuan aku, daging khinzir mmg diharamkan oleh agama2 samawi (Yahudi-kristian-Islam). Begitu juga pemakaian hijab, tu pasal gambar mary(katenye la) pakai skaf.

Tapi menurut St Paul, pemimpin kristian yang unggul, Selepas original sins (dosa anak Adam a.s) diangkat dgn kematian Nabi Isa a.s, semua daging kembali suci dan boleh digunakan/ dimakan. Harap ,mana2 rakan kristian dpt sahkan.

Babi+biri2. Production no 1, tp HARAM.

On the other hand, aku sgt suka perbincangan terbuka mengenai agama (btentangan ngn govt skit yg suka sekat2 dan tutup2) sebab smua berhak dpt informasi bukan?

hey azri, somehow i decided to pay your blog a visit and saw the post... hope everything is well...

I am a christian and my understanding of the bible, that the scripture you quoted, in levitius chapter 11, God was giving instructions about which animals christians were not supposed to eat. And in summary, God said we should only eat animals which eat grass and have a split hoof. with this criteria, God goes on to say that animals like pigs and rabbits are forbidden as they do not satisfy both criteria. In rest of the chapter, God continues to give criteria for animals that swim in the sea (only those with both scales and fins) and birds (the forbidden ones were eagles, vultures and many more). insects were also forbidden except locusts, crickets or grasshoppers. All this happened in the old testament before Jesus Christ.

However in the new testament, After the coming of Jesus Christ(who Christians believe to be the son of God), In the book of Acts Chapter 10 verse 12, Peter (one of the disciples) was hungry and on the roof of a house when he had a vision. Verse 11 "The heavens opened...." Verse 12 "it contained all kinds of four footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air" God then continued to tell peter to get up and "Kill and eat", Peter protested saying that the animals were unclean as in the laws stated in Leviticus, but God said in verse 15 "....Do not call anything impure that God has made clean"

The verses in Chapter 10 show that although the animals were previously unclean, God has cleansed them and they are now pure. The verse also had another meaning in regards to the teaching of Christianity to other races... but thats another story.

This is my understanding of the bible in regards to "unclean" animals: God has now cleansed them and previously declared unclean animals are now ok for consumption. The rules written in Leviticus are part of many rules in the old testament that were broken after Jesus Christ came to die for our sins. Obviously this is a rather tough topic to answer fully in one comment. But this is what I have been taught and understand. Hope it clears up any questions you may have. Take care and God Bless.
